The diesel train-sets Desiro will be redirected to non-electrified line sections

The express diesel trains-sets Desiro, running along the route from Bourgas to Kjustendil via Sofia, are cancelled since June 27, 2005. Since the 1st of July 2005 the following diesel train-sets are cancelled:
- the express train from Dobrich to Sofia via Varna;
- the express train from Sofia to Vidin;
- the fast train from Varna to Bourgas, running along this route only on Sundays;
- the regional train from Dobrich to Varna, operating on this route only at weekends.

BDZ EAD does not plan to cancel the two diesel train-sets, running as fast and regional trains along the non-electrified line sections from Plovdiv to Momchilgrad and from Plovdiv to Peshtera.

The routes, along which run the diesel train-sets Desiro, were designed with the intention to present to the customers of BDZ EAD the multiple comforts of the new trains. Since the beginning of the next month the Desiros will operate along non-electrified lines, where the low consumption rates of diesel fuel will result in faster pay-back of the initial procurement investments. The current routes for operation of the new trains were selected with a view to the testing of their running gear behavior in the conditions of the existing railway infrastructure, along which will be operated the Desiro EMUs.
