Series of rivers, waterfalls and springs in Bulgaria

The series ‘Rivers, Waterfalls and Springs in Bulgaria’ is dedicated to the new ‘Alstom’ electric multiple units, which will serve the country’s main routes.

Each of the railcars will be named after a river, waterfall or spring in Bulgaria. A special section has been created for all these natural features, containing interesting information. Each railcar features a QR code which, when scanned with a mobile device, provides direct access to the series, where passengers can find out more about the relevant natural landmarks.

The new Alstom Coradia Stream trains consist of six carriages and have a total of 325 seats in first and second class. The low-floor design ensures easy access, whilst special ramps enable people with reduced mobility to use the trains. There are also spaces for bicycles and pushchairs, as well as spacious luggage racks.

The railcars are equipped with air conditioning, a state-of-the-art passenger information system featuring audio announcements and dynamic visual displays, power sockets and USB ports for charging electronic devices and electric bicycles. Provision has been made for wireless internet access. The trains are also fitted with CCTV, state-of-the-art security systems and a digital system for accurately counting passengers using highly sensitive sensors.

The multiple units are also fitted with an ETCS system for objective monitoring of the locomotive driver’s performance and a system to ensure safe travel on Bulgaria’s railway infrastructure. These technologies enable the trains to reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h.
