Carriages

The use of passenger carriages in the Bulgarian railways dates back to 1866, when the first railway line between Ruse and Varna was opened. Since then, a small fleet of luxury passenger carriages has been maintained for the so-called “highest-level” travelers, including crowned and uncrowned dignitaries, as well as their entourages. Historically, this specialized fleet has been replaced several times with more modern, more comfortable, and more sophisticated rolling stock.

Today, “BDZ – Patnicheski prevozi” EOOD operates first-class carriages from the “Korona Express” and the “Vitosha Express”.

The preserved original interiors of the passenger carriages from the “Korona Express” and “Vitosha Express,” as well as the professional service, make them ideal for business, anniversary, holiday, and tourist trips throughout the national standard-gauge rail network. The train can be configured with a steam or conventional locomotive and passenger carriages, the number, type, and arrangement of which are determined according to our customers’ preferences.
