BDZ chose a contractor on the tender procedure for delivery of new locomotives.

DZZD "Siemens Tron", a consortium led by Siemens Mobility division, will be delivering 10 new electric locomotives to Bulgarian State Railways.

The selection was made after the negotiations at the public procurement procedure: "Delivery and guarantee support of 10 newly produced trunk-railway electric locomotives for the needs of BDZ - Passenger Transport Ltd.".

From the three bidders, who sent initial requests for participation, at the second stage of the procurement tender, only "Siement Tron" submitted technical and price offers. The price negotiated with the consortium for the execution of the contract is BGN 55 544 816 excluding VAT, and is lower than the announced tender's budget of BGN 57.5 million excluding VAT.

The price is for a bundle and includes the value of the locomotives - Siemens Smartron model, and also technical support and all spare parts and consumables for a period of 3 years or 600 000 km. mileage, as well as transportation, insurance and on place exploitation setup.

Also, an extension of the warranty period from 24 to 36 months was additionally agreed in the price, as well as training of drivers and BDZ's personnel for the maintenance of the locomotives.

The first locomotive should be delivered for up to 10 months after contract signature, while the total delivery time is 13 months.
